It just sort of exists as filler before the final big battle which is quite good, but I don’t believe worth wading through the first five episodes to get to it. In the lead-up to the final battle there is simply just not enough there to hold a viewer’s interest, and the show seems very self-serious compared to Spartacus, and has no ultra-charismatic lead like Vikings’ Ragnar. Even with just six, 40-45 minute episodes Barbarians feels like it drags.
